Comments Sought on Proposed Health Professional Shortage Area Designations: Impact on North Dakota
The federal government (Health Resources and Services Administration), recently released a proposal to consolidate the criteria and process for designating Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) and Medically Underserved Areas/Populations (MUA/Ps). The proposed rules have implications for health care in North Dakota.
For example, according to the proposal, some facilities in North Dakota will lose their rural health clinic status, which means the loss of special reimbursement status. In essence, these clinics will receive less federal funding to provide current levels of service.
You are invited to make comments on the proposed rule; submission may be made electronically at http://www.regulations.gov by May 29, 2008.
