State Office of Rural Health (SORH)

Activities

  • Contribute to the development of the Center for Rural Health bi-monthly electronic newsletter.
  • Provide grant development assistance to communities working on Rural Health Outreach, Network Development, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota Rural Health Grant Program, and private foundation proposals.
  • Collaborate with partner organizations such as Departments of Health; Human Services; Information Technology; Healthcare(hospital) Association; Long Term Care Association; Mental Health Association; Medical Association; Nursing Association; Public Health Association, Primary Care Association; Healthcare Review (QIO); and other University of North Dakota Departments.
  • Present rural health issues to community groups.
  • Provide rural health information to legislators and congressional offices.
  • Participate in national organizations such as the National Rural Health Association and the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health.
  • Administer and coordinate the Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program in collaboration with the North Dakota Department of Health; North Dakota Healthcare (hospital) Association and the North Dakota Healthcare Review (QIO).
  • Facilitate the annual Dakota Conference on Rural and Public Health.
  • Serve as the convener North Dakota Health Information Technology Steering Committee.
  • Administer Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota Rural Health Grant Program.
  • Facilitate strategic planning sessions for rural health organizations.
