2007
Jan/Feb
HB 2303 was introduced during the 2007 legislative session to create the HIT steering committee and provide for a grant program. Testimony was provided in support of SB 2303 by Steering Committee members.
March
Steering Committee held second face-to-face meeting
Purpose was to discuss progress of SB 2303; Presentation from Utah Health Information Network (UHIN); further develop goals, member expectations and next steps to inform the direction of the Steering Committee and Stakeholder Group Sponsored by Center for Rural Health.
HB2303 failed, anamendment to HB 1021, of the Information Technology Department’s appropriation bill was adopted. This amendment created the committee by adding a new section to chapter to North Dakota Century Code 23-01. The grant program was not included – no funding was appropriated.

Steering Committee sent five representatives to the Region VIII HIT Round Table Conference, Salt Lake City, Utah
June
North Dakota HIT Steering Committee was invited to present an overview of the state’s activities at the Regional HIT Conference, Billings Montana.
August
A joint Steering Committee and Stakeholder Group meeting will be held.The purpose is to convene five workgroups (1) HIE applications;
2) education/communication; 3) legislation/policy; 4) privacy/security;
5) finance/resources) that will be tasked with exploring the varioustopics in order to eventually develop a statewide HIT plan. Sponsored by Center for Rural Health.

2008
January
The five Work Groups monthly conference calls.
May-July
The Center for Rural Health, with input from the committee members, will develop and administer statewide surveys to hospitals, clinics and long term care facilities to assess the HIT environment which will be used to inform a statewide report.
June
The third annual Joint Meeting of the North Dakota HIT Steering Committee and Stakeholder Work Groups will be held in Bismarck.
