Blue Cross/Blue Shield -- The Center for Rural Health, University of North Dakota (UND) School of Medicine and Health Sciences is pleased to announce that Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota (BCBSND) will offer a sixth year of funding for their rural health grant program.
Rural Health Information Technology (HIT) Grant Program -- Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Dakota provides support to those communities who demonstrate an effective plan to successfully improve health care delivery to the rural population by utilizing Health Information Technology.
Small Rural Hospital Improvement Program (SHIP) -- The Office of Rural Health Policy's Small Rural Hospital Improvement (SHIP) Grant Program provides funding to small rural hospitals to help them do any or all of the following: 1) pay for costs related to the implementation of PPS, 2) comply with provisions of HIPAA and 3) reduce medical errors and support quality improvement.
North Dakota Flex Grant Program -- The North Dakota Flex Program provides financial assistance to North Dakota’s Critical Access Hospitals in their efforts to adapt to the changing rural healthcare environment.
CAH HIT Network Implementation Grant Program -- Facilitate the exchange of health information by implementing an interoperable electronic medical record along the continuum of care that is patient-centered, facilitating patient safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of health services. Three North Dakota Critical Access Hospitals, one tertiary referral hospital, and ancillary providers including a community health center, will serve as the network model in this pilot project.

Rural Health Outreach Grant Program -- The Office of Rural Health Policy's Outreach Grant Program is designed to encourage the development of new and innovative health care delivery systems in rural communities that lack essential health care services.
Network Development Grant Program -- These grants are
designed to further ongoing collaborative relationships among
health care organizations by funding rural health networks that
focus on integrating clinical, information, administrative, and
financial systems across members.
Network Development Planning Grant Program -- The grant program provides one-year of funding to rural
communities needing assistance in the development of an integrated
healthcare network. The planning grants are to be used to develop
a formal network with the purpose of improving the coordination of
health services in rural communities and strengthening the rural
health care system as a whole.
Rural Access to Emergency Devices (RAED) Grant Program (Unavailable at this time)--
The Rural Access to Emergency Devices (RAED) Grant Program
provides funding to rural communities to purchase automated
external defibrillators (AEDs) and provide training in their use
and maintenance.
