The Evaluation of the Garrett Less Smith (GLS) Youth Suicide Prevention Program involves a partnership with the North Dakota Department of Health, the North Dakota Suicide Prevention Project, and local entities in six North Dakota communities. They are targeting suicide prevention in youth ages 10-24, focusing on the six areas of the state that have the highest rates of suicide. The evaluation’s goals are:
Participate in the ongoing and Cross-site Evaluation of the GLS Youth Suicide Prevention and Early Intervention Program (ORC/Macro) evaluation for the GLS grant throughout the program.
Conduct a utilization focused evaluation of the Suicide Prevention Program within the Division of Injury Prevention and Control, North Dakota Department of Health and the six community grantee suicide prevention programs as they are funded by the GLS grant
Improve surveillance on completed and attempted suicides of North Dakota youth aged 10-24. The primary objective is to assess current data collection systems and plan improvements. This information informs achievement of outcomes in the overall suicide prevention project.
