Christine Lennon, M.Ed.

Christine Lennon is the program coordinator for the North Dakota Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility (Flex) Program at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Grand Forks, ND.

In this position, Lennon assists in the coordination of the activities of the Flex program, which helps rural hospitals improve access to health services in rural communities. She provides technical assistance to rural hospitals through strategic planning, balanced scorecard implementation, community assessments, internal audits, focus groups, and workshop development. Lennon also assists with the Small Hospital Improvement Program which provides funding to assist small rural hospitals with HIPAA compliance and the reduction of medical errors.

Lennon’s past work experiences include the provision of personal counseling, program development and coordination, teaching, and other student development services on several North Dakota university campuses. Additionally, she was involved with the North Dakota Higher Education Consortium for the Prevention of Substance Abuse, the North Dakota WEAV (Working in Education Against Violence) project, and Safe Communities of Traill County.

Lennon received her Master of Science in Education – Guidance and Counseling from Northern State University in 1986 and her Bachelor of Science in Social Work degree (cum laude) from the University of North Dakota in 1984. She is a licensed social worker in North Dakota (#319).

Projects

  • Flex Program -- Assist small rural hospitals to maintain access to health services for rural residents.
  • SHIP -- Provides funding to small rural hospitals to help them pay for costs related to the implementation of PPS, comply with provisions of HIPAA, and reduce medical errors and support quality improvement.
