Laura Trude, MLIS

Laura Trude is an information specialist for the Health Workforce Information Center (HWIC), an initiative of the Center for Rural Health in the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Grand Forks. Funded by HRSA’s Bureau of Health Professions, HWIC provides a national web-based information portal for heath workforce issues, as well as individualized assistance by phone and e-mail. Laura’s responsibilities will include: identifying, selecting, organizing, and indexing relevant information; developing methods of sharing information among users; retrieving and disseminating information for users; assisting users in retrieving information and navigating the complex web of federal and private foundations; and publicizing the activities of the HWIC.

Prior to joining the CRH, Laura worked as an intern at Bethel University, as a temporary assistant to the Dean of Academic Affairs at the College of St. Catherine in MN, and as a graduate student assistant. She received a bachelors of arts in English from St. Olaf College in MN and a Masters in Library and Information Science from the College of St. Catherine.

Among her accomplishments, Laura created a new website for the College of St. Catherine’s Office of Academic Affairs, updated the college’s electronic document room used for the school’s accreditation, helped prepare the school’s library science program for accreditation, and updated the young adult collection at Bethel University. She enjoys reading, watching movies, and spending time with her family. She plays the violin and piano, and plays violin for the Greater Grand Forks Symphony Orchestra.
