Margo Klein, MLIS

Margo Klein is an Information Specialist at the Center for Rural Health at the University of North Dakota (UND) School of Medicine and Health Sciences in Grand Forks. Klein works for the Health Workforce Information Center (HWIC) where she responds to information requests by telephone and email from users desiring information on workforce issues. She develops topic pages on workforce resources and is responsible for collection development, indexing workforce documents, doing customized searches, as well as exhibiting at various conferences. In addition, she also provides literature searches and reviews to support research projects on topics pertaining to rural veterans’ health as part of the VA Rural Health Resource Center – Central Region.
Prior to joining the UND staff, Klein worked from home in Fargo as a Network Service Representative / Physician Contractor for Humana Veterans Healthcare Services. As part of Project HERO, she contracted with healthcare providers throughout the Dakotas to provide services to veterans unable to receive prompt care within the VA system. Prior to that, she spent five years at Ceridian Employee Assistance Program (EAP) in Eagan, MN, starting out as a General Research Specialist, providing information on a multitude of topics as requested by employees of client companies. She then moved on to the Provider Relations department as an Affiliate Network Development Specialist where she recruited mental health professionals to join the EAP provider network.
Klein has a Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree from Dominican University, attained through classes taken at College of Saint Catherine in St. Paul, MN. She also has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from University of Northern Iowa. She was born and raised on a century farm near Windom, MN.

It has developed a full complement of programs to assist researchers, educators, policymakers, health care providers and, most importantly, rural residents to address changing rural environments by identifying and researching rural health issues, analyzing health policy, strengthening local capabilities, developing community-based alternatives, and advocating for rural concerns.

- VA Central Region Rural Health Resource Center -- Supports a number of new initiatives to enhance health care delivery to rural veterans and close gaps in quality and access to care that may result from the geographic isolation faced by rural veterans.
