Workforce
This topic page provides a brief overview of the Center for Rural Health’s activities relating to Workforce. This workforce section contains a list of projects, key staff, and information pulled from the publications, presentations, events, news, and maps section of the CRH web site.
Projects
- Area Health Education Center Program -- The purpose of the AHEC is to improve the distribution, diversity, supply and quality of health care personnel in the health care services delivery system.
- Health Workforce Information Center -- Provides free access to the most recent resources on the nation’s health workforce in one easy-to-use online location.
- Health Workforce Summit -- Planning Together to Meet North Dakota’s Future Health Care Needs was held on December 5, 2006, in Bismarck, ND.
- Non-Physician Clinician Workforce Study -- The NPC (Non-Physician Clinician) project will provide demographic information on the practicing physician assistants, certified nurse midwives, and nurse practitioners in North Dakota to assist in future workforce projections for these disciplines.
- North Dakota Nursing Needs Study -- The North Dakota Nursing Needs Study is a comprehensive, ten-year project that tracks supply and demand of nursing in North Dakota.
- Nurse Faculty Intern Study -- The Nurse Faculty Intern study is examining the effectiveness of a role development model for the development of nurse faculty.
- Nurse Faculty Project -- This Dakota Medical Foundation funded project will examine recruitment and retention strategies for nurse faculty.
- Nursing Workforce Impact -- Examines the impact of nurse staffing and nurse work environment on hospital performance improvement in the CMS/Premier Inc. Hospital Quality Incentive Demonstration (HQID) project.
- Primary Care Office -- The North Dakota Primary Care Office (PCO) program is a subcontract with the North Dakota State Health Department for recruitment and retention assistance and shortage area designation activities.
- SEARCH -- The SEARCH (Student/Resident Experiences And Rotations in Community Health) program provides health professions students and residents with opportunities to work on interdisciplinary health care teams.
- State Office of Rural Health -- A federal-state partnership to help rural communities build their health care services through public and private partnerships and initiatives in rural health development.
