NIEJI's Gray and Warne Provide Training at Red Lake Event

Mar 10, 2020

Jacque Gray and Maylynn Warne represented the National Indigenous Elder Justice Initiative (NIEJI) at the Red Lake Cluster Training for Title VI of the Older Americans Act March 4-5 in Red Lake, Minnesota. At this regional training, Warne provided an overview of NIEJI resources that are available as well as coming attractions from the project. Gray provided information and resources on developing a tribal elder abuse code. "Only about 100 of the 574 federally recognized tribes have an elder abuse code," Gray said. "This is necessary to protect our elderly tribal members from abuse."
