Rural and Public Health Award Recipients

The 37th Annual Dakota Conference on
Rural and Public Health will feature the Rural and Public Health
Awards Banquet to recognize outstanding North Dakota
rural health advocates for their accomplishments. The
awards banquet is slated for June 9 at 6:00 pm Central in
the Alerus Center Aurora Ballroom 5. A social hour will
take place immediately before the banquet, beginning at
5:15 pm Central.
Rural Health Awards
- Wayne Anderson, Chief Medical Officer and general surgeon at CHI St. Alexius Health Williston, will be awarded the Outstanding Rural Health Provider award.
- Mara Jiran, CEO of Spectra Health, will accept the award for Outstanding Rural Health Professional in 2022.
- Dr. Brad and Gayle Aafedt, a retired interventional radiologist and a retired chemical engineer, respectively, will be recognized as Outstanding Rural Health Volunteers.
- Annie Paulson, nursing program director at Bismarck State College, will procure the Outstanding Rural Health Educator/Mentor award.
- The House of Everyday Learning and Beyond Boundaries Therapy Services will accept the Outstanding Rural Health Program award.
- Pete Antonson, CEO of the Northwood Deaconess Health Center, will be awarded the Outstanding Rural Health Career.
- Towner County Medical Center will be recognized for hosting the R-COOL-Health Scrubs Camp of the Year.
North Dakota Public Health Association Awards
- Theresa Schmidt, nurse manager at Bismarck Burleigh Public Health, will accept the Public Health Worker of the Year award.
- Julie Ferry, former administrator at Nelson-Griggs District Health Unit, will be awarded the North Dakota Public Health Association Outstanding Service Award for 2022.
- The North Dakota State University Department of Public Health will be recognized as the Public Health Team of the Year.
How to Attend
Tickets for the awards banquet are $30 for conference participants and $35 for those not registered for the conference. Ticket prices will increase by $5 after May 24. Registration is mandatory for those who wish to attend.
