of Us Research Program Makes Stops in North Dakota
In its efforts to enroll at least 1 million volunteers, the All of Us Research Program, established
by the National Institutes of Health, visited three communities in North Dakota this year.
National Rural Health Day (NRHD)
A variety of events and opportunities to celebrate the #PowerofRural
are available through the month of November, especially on November 21. Some activities include:
Conference on Rural and Public Health
The 35th Annual Dakota Conference is an opportunity for healthcare professionals, educators, and students to
network and share strategies for improving North Dakota healthcare. The 2020 conference is June 3-5 at the
Alerus Center in Grand Forks, North Dakota.
North Dakota Students Receive Outstanding Research Awards
A trio of North Dakota students won Alan J. Allery Awards at the 2019 American Indian Health Research
Conference in Grand Forks for their research.
than 1,300 Students to Participate in Annual Scrubs Camps
Seventeen North Dakota communities are hosting Scrubs Camps in the program's 11th year. The camps are
designed to teach youth about local healthcare career options.
Presents at WONCA World Rural Health Conference
Shawnda Schroeder presented on the benefits of developing interdisciplinary teams and working with rural
communities to conduct research with a local impact.
Medical Center Family Nurse Practitioner Recognized as 2019 "Community Star"
Receiving national honor, Debra Middleton was named a "Community Star" for being a North Dakota rural health
Funding & Other Opportunities
Program CAH Grant Applications
The CRH is currently accepting grant applications from Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs). The areas of focus
that can be addressed through this initiative include CAH financial and operational analysis, chart audit,
and collaborative population health improvement projects.

and Bauman Write New Toolkit for Gateway
Schroeder, research associate professor at the CRH, and Sonja
Bauman, research specialist at the CRH, revised a communication and dissemination toolkit for the
Rural Health Research Gateway.
Plains Senior Services Collaborative
The Great Plains Senior Services Collaborative helps older adults living in North Dakota, Minnesota, and
Montana age in place by providing social programs and healthcare coordination services.
"Provider's Perspective" Video Available
This "Provider's Perspective" video from the North Dakota Brain Injury Network features a Fargo
speech-language clinician as well as a brain injury survivor.
