Andrew Nelson, BA - Bio Sketch

Andrew Nelson is a digital storyteller with the Center for Rural Health (CRH) at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences in Grand Forks.

In this position, Andrew works with the federally funded Rural Health Information Hub (RHIhub) program. He is responsible for the creation of digital content, including videos and podcasts that highlight rural health programs and issues, share insights from rural health experts, and feature RHIhub's products and services.

Prior to joining CRH, Andrew worked for WDAY-TV in Fargo as a photojournalist, receiving a 2019 Upper Midwest Emmy for Weather Documentary with "Rebuilding Paradise" and a 2020 Upper Midwest Emmy for Evening Newscast with "Fargo Riot." Additionally, he shot and edited the 2021 National Edward R. Murrow Award-winning "Life on a COVID Floor," a four-part series showing life in Sanford Hospital's COVID-19 ward in Fargo from the perspective of a patient, a doctor, a nurse, and a respiratory therapist.

Andrew has a bachelor of arts degree in film studies with an emphasis in production from Minnesota State University in Moorhead. He is originally from Mayville, North Dakota.
