Virtual Briefing on Make Hospital Food Healthier Pledge

A virtual briefing will be held on September 29 from 3:00-4:00 pm Central, focused on the Make Hospital Food Healthier Pledge, which challenges hospitals to put nutrition at the center of care.

The briefing will bring together leadership from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), healthcare partners, and hospital stakeholders to discuss how hospitals can participate in this national initiative to improve the nutritional quality of food served in healthcare settings.

Topics will include:

• An overview of the Make Hospital Food Healthier Pledge and its core commitments
• Why hospital food matters: Connecting nutrition to patient outcomes and community health
• What's involved in taking the Pledge and how hospitals can get started
• Examples of hospitals and health systems that have already signed on
• Resources and support available to participating hospitals

The presentation will be followed by an open Q&A, providing hospital leaders and stakeholders an opportunity to ask questions and engage directly with CMS and HHS. Hospital executives, board members, quality leaders, nutrition and food services leaders, and community health stakeholders are especially encouraged to attend.
