The Rural
Collaborative Opportunities for Occupational Learning in
Health (R-COOL-Health) Scrubs Academies serve as a
mini-preparation program to strengthen academic skill
sets associated with health disciplines, introduce
adolescents to a higher education experience, and foster
a relationship between the students and healthcare
professionals.
Scrubs Academy I
Scrubs Academy I is a four-day/three-night camp held on the University of North Dakota (UND) campus. The academy is open to any North Dakota student who will have completed grades 6-8 as of June 2025. The cost is $275 per student. Students will sleep in the UND residence halls all three evenings. In addition to experiences with healthcare professionals, students are certified in Friends and Family CPR and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

Scrubs Academy II
Scrubs Academy II is a four-day/three-night camp where high school students learn what it is like to be a health professional and see an array of healthcare professions they may consider as a career. The academy is open to any North Dakota high school student who will have completed grades 9-11 as of July 2025. The cost is $350 per student. Students spend their days in various health facilities, enjoy fun activities in the evenings, and sleep in the Minot State University residence halls all three nights.
