Open to North Dakota high school students who will have completed grades 9-11 as of June 2027.
The Rural Collaborative Opportunities for Occupational Learning in Health (R-COOL-Health) Scrubs Academy II is a four-day/three-night camp where high school students learn what it is like to be a health professional and see an array of healthcare professions they may consider as a career. Students spend their days in various health facilities (Critical Access Hospitals, tertiaries, clinics, long term care and assisted living facilities, ambulances, treatment centers), enjoy fun activities in the evenings, and spend the night in the Minot State University dorms. Students have the opportunity to job shadow multiple professions during the course of the camp.
The Scrubs Academy II serves as a mini-preparation program to strengthen academic skill sets associated with health disciplines, introduce adolescents to a higher education experience, and foster a relationship between the students and healthcare professionals.
For students to have the most benefit and to minimize camp disruptions, students are expected to attend all scheduled camp programming.

- Cost: $350 (includes meals, lodging, during-camp transportation, activity fees, shirts, backpack, and more)

Scholarship Opportunities
Thanks to the generosity of many organizations in our great state, scholarship opportunities may be available. If you are in need of a scholarship, check back once applications open and complete the scholarship application. Both applications must be completed to apply for a scholarship.
Tuition is $350. Please do not let the tuition turn you away from applying. We will do our best to find scholarships for as many students as possible, but please know that we cannot guarantee financial assistance of any amount.
Scholarship amounts may be for the entire tuition, or partial.
Scholarships will be communicated via email after applications have closed in April.
You are also encouraged to reach out to your local health facilities about scholarships. Feel free to share the contact information for our project coordinator, McKenzi Sapaugh, with them. She will be happy to coordinate receipt of any scholarships you find on your own.

Sponsor a Scrubs Academy II Student
There are opportunities for your facility/organization to sponsor a student or students to attend the R-COOL-Health Scrubs Academy II held annually in Minot.
