R-COOL-Health Scrubs Academy I

penguin June 15-18, 2026
University of North Dakota Campus
Grand Forks, North Dakota

Open to North Dakota students who will have completed grades 6-8.

The University of North Dakota (UND) Rural Collaborative Opportunities for Occupational Learning in Health (R-COOL-Health) Scrubs Academy I is a four day/three night camp held on the University of North Dakota campus.

The Scrubs Academy I encourages junior high students from across North Dakota to pursue a career in healthcare. Students participate in hands-on activities and receive information related to a variety of healthcare professions. In addition to the experiences with healthcare professionals, students are certified in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).

The Scrubs Academy I serves as a mini-preparation program to strengthen academic skill sets associated with health disciplines, introduce adolescents to a higher education experience, and foster a relationship between the students and healthcare professionals. Students will sleep in the UND dorms all three evenings.

For students to have the most benefit and to minimize camp disruptions, students are expected to attend all day-time programming.
