Jun 9, 2025
The Rural
Collaborative Opportunities for Occupational Learning in
Health (R-COOL-Health) Scrubs Academy I will be held
June 23-26. Fifty-seven students from around North Dakota
who have completed grades 6-8 will be in attendance. The
R-COOL-Health Scrubs
program is housed at the Center for Rural Health,
located within the University of North Dakota (UND)
School of Medicine & Health Sciences.
The Scrubs Academy I is a four day/three night camp held on the UND campus. It encourages North Dakota junior high students pursue a career in healthcare. Students participate in hands-on activities and receive information related to a variety of healthcare professions.

The Scrubs Academy I serves as a mini-preparation program to strengthen academic skill sets associated with health disciplines, introduce adolescents to a higher education experience, and foster a relationship between the students and healthcare professionals.
"We are so excited to host the Scrubs Academy I this summer," said Nicole Threadgold, grant program director at CRH. "The Scrubs Program's main goal is to introduce North Dakota students to healthcare professions, and the Scrubs Academy provides a unique and immersive experience for our attendees. We are building tomorrow's healthcare leaders one student at a time."
