Three Rural Hospital Directors of Nursing Receive Certification

Three directors of nursing (DONs) from three Critical Access Hospitals recently received leadership training from the National Rural Health Association's (NRHA) Center for Rural Health Leadership Program.

The NRHA Rural Hospital CNO Certification Program was developed by successful rural hospital chief nursing officers for current nursing leaders, to help strengthen their leadership skills to truly be a part of the future success of their hospitals. The DONs who earned the certification are:

Funding for the certification was provided by the North Dakota Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility (Flex) program. Flex is housed at the Center for Rural Health within the University of North Dakota School of Medicine & Health Sciences.

Jody Ward, grant program director for Flex, said, "We are thrilled to be able to offer leadership training for the DONs, which will allow them to run their programs more effectively and ultimately provide even more outstanding care for the rural communities they serve."
