Live Webinar Trainings

These live Community-Based Behavioral Health Project webinars provide an opportunity to learn about supporting adults with varying needs, explore practical strategies that can be applied in in-home care settings, and access valuable resources. Each training is conducted online via Zoom, allowing participants to join from any location.

All webinars will be recorded and made available for later viewing. Each webinar focuses on a different aging adult health topic, so participants are welcome to register for one, two, or all three sessions based on their interests and learning goals.

    Webinar session for mental health providers working with older adults.

  • September 9, 2026 @ 12:00 pm Central – Seeing Beyond the Symptoms: Practical Tools for Supporting Adults with Disabilities and Behavioral Health Needs
    Direct support professionals working in the homes of adults with disabilities increasingly encounter co‑occurring behavioral, mental health, and substance use challenges that can impact safety, engagement, and quality of care. This webinar will provide evidence‑informed strategies, best practices, and practical tips to help staff recognize when behaviors may be related to underlying mental health or addiction diagnoses, and respond in ways that are supportive, trauma‑informed, and within their scope of practice. Participants will explore how to "see through a different lens" by considering the interaction of disability, trauma, and behavioral health needs, while also addressing common fears and safety concerns associated with entering clients' homes. By the end of the session, attendees will be better equipped to de‑escalate challenging situations, maintain professional boundaries, and connect individuals and families with appropriate behavioral health resources.
    Monica Kramer McConkey Presenter Monica Kramer McConkey has over 30 years of experience in the behavioral health field as a counselor, program supervisor and administrator. She has a master's degree in Counseling and is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Minnesota. The focus throughout her career has been to increase access to, and remove the stigma often attached to mental health services in rural underserved areas. Monica travels throughout the country educating and speaking through her business, Eyes on the Horizon Consulting, helping individuals and organizations improve resilience and mental wellness.
  • September 16, 2026 @ 1:00 pm Central – Mental Health Providers Working with Adults with Developmental Disabilities
    This educational training is designed for mental health providers and other professionals who support adults with developmental disabilities. Participants will have the opportunity to learn more about the mental health needs and considerations of adults with developmental disabilities. The training is also relevant for professionals working with adult and aging populations in healthcare, behavioral health, social services, and community-based settings.
