Students To Service Loan Repayment Program
The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) Students to Service Loan Repayment Program (LRP) provides loan repayment assistance to medical students (MD and DO) in their last year of school, in return for a commitment to provide primary healthcare services in eligible Health Professional Shortage Areas of greatest need.
Student Must
- Be a U.S. citizen or national
- Be a full-time student in the last year of an accredited MD or DO school
- Be committed to pursuing a residency and career in family medicine, internal medicine, general pediatrics, geriatrics, or obstetrics/gynecology
- Have unpaid government or commercial loans for school tuition/educational expenses/reasonable living expenses
- Serve communities with a shortage of health professionals
Application Process
- Students apply during the fourth year of medical school
- Attend the primary care residency of your choice
- Find a job an approved NHSC site
- Serve at least 3 years full time or 6 years half time
Financial Benefits
- $120,000 tax-free loan repayment for the 3 or 6 year commitment
